Smoked Sausage Soup
I love to curl up with a delicious bowl of soup, especially through the fall and winter months. This soup is great for anyone that has a busy life and needs a quick, warm and welcoming meal. The smokiness of the sausage mingles with the other ingredients and herbs to create the perfect, savory flavor.
Mom’s Pumpkin Bread
Ok, I admit it, I’m a Fall Fanatic! It's my favorite season of the year without a doubt and nothing says fall to me like pumpkin bread. This particular recipe was introduced to our church community in the 1960s by our associate minister’s wife. My mother made this recipe so many times over the years, it’s naturally named "Mom’s pumpkin bread.” One of my fondest memories is sharing a piece (or two) with her whenever she baked it. Trust me, I have tried lots of pumpkin bread recipes, but this one is my absolute favorite. I know you will love it too.
Heirloom Tomato Galette
Take yourself over to your local Farmer’s Market - pick up some heirloom tomatoes and make yourself a delicious, rustic galette!
Family Favorite Swiss Steak
Swiss steak is a dish I have prepared for most of my adult life. For a young cook, this was an easy dish to make and it turned out perfectly every time. What a blessing to be able to prepare a few ingredients in the morning, place them in the crock pot and have it ready to serve for dinner after a really busy day!
Holiday Cranberry Salad
This fresh cranberry salad is a treat during the holidays and has become a tradition for our family. Bright and tangy, this recipe serves a crowd, so it's perfect for any large gathering. An amazing combination of cranberries, oranges, pineapple, apples and walnuts, it’s an explosion of tastes and flavors your family is sure to enjoy. Make sure to get a good portion during the first round of helpings, because it’s only around once a year!
Autumn Harvest Pumpkin Soup
In a small German town called Bensheim there is a restaurant called the Blauer Aff (Blue Monkey). Our friends are locals and they took us there for a very special dinner. The restaurant is delightful and I highly recommend it, if you’re ever in the area. They served me a thick and hearty pumpkin soup garnished with toasted pumpkin seeds floating on top with a side of warm, fresh bread. It was divine! I’ve tried to recreate it here for you and I hope you enjoy.
Country Apple Dumplings
Apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and warm gooey pastry crust served with a side of ice cream or whipped cream - delicious! My best friend’s mother introduced me to this wonderful recipe and I’m delighted to share it with you.
